Facebook Inc reported on Friday that its services were being affected by a number of problems, after nearly a million people around the world reported difficulties with its photo-sharing app on Instagram.

Several users took to Twitter to complain about the outage, labeled #whatsappoutage at a time when it was the trend in many countries, including India.
The outage tracking website Downdetector.com showed that there were almost a million incidents of people reporting problems with Instagram, while almost 20,000 users posted about their problems with WhatsApp on the website.
Downdetector tracks outages by collecting status information from a number of sources, including user-submitted errors on its platform. The outages may be affecting a larger number of users.
