Facebook extends Tramp account blocking – Worldwide

The social networking company Facebook has extended the blocking of the accounts of former US President Donald Trump until January 2023.

A statement released on Facebook on Friday said Trump will be able to resume using his Facebook and Instagram accounts on January 7, 2023, if Facebook admits that the ex-president no longer poses a threat to public safety.

“At the end of this period, we will ask experts to assess whether the risk to public safety has diminished,” said Nick Kleg, vice president of Facebook.

On January 7, Facebook for an indefinite period of time banned Tramp from using accounts on the social networks Facebook and Instagram it manages, acknowledging that Tramp had incited the January 6 riots in the Capitol.

In response to Facebook’s decision to extend the ban until 2023, Trump issued a statement saying “they should not go unpunished for this censorship and silence, and eventually we will win.”

Trump also threatened that “the next time I’m at the White House, there will be no more dinner with [“Facebook” vadītāju] Mark Zakerberg and his wife at his request “.
