Facebook closes its podcast service with only one year of life

Though it only got into podcasting a year ago, Meta, now the parent company of Facebook, has revealed that it is going to close Soundbitesits service dedicated to podcasts integrated into the Facebook social network.

revealed by Bloomberg, the service will only remain active for one more month since, as of June 3, it will disappear completely. Users will not be able to upload more programs to said platform starting this week. Also, the current audio ‘hub’ and Soundbites will close “in the coming weeks”, although an exact official date has not yet been given.

The most interesting part of this move is that Facebook only launched this last year. Why is it going to close so fast? A Meta representative has replied, although he has only commented that, with this movement, the company will be able to “focus on the most important experiences.”

And you, did you use the Facebook podcast service?
