He’s back at the top of the rich list: Facebook boss Mark Zuckerberg (40) can look forward to a fabulous increase in wealth.
This is based on the current one Forbes magazine billionaires list out. From around 40 billion euros in January last year, Zuckerberg’s wealth shot up to 175 billion.
There are only four other super rich ahead of him:
► Tesla-Boss Elon Musk (53), approx. 242 billion euros
► Larry Ellison (80), founder of the software company Oracle, approx. 185 billion euros
► Amazon founder Jeff Bezos (60), approx. 184 billion euros
► Bernard Arnault (75), head of the luxury group LVMH (including Louis Vuitton and Dior), approx. 179 billion euros
Zuckerberg made a rapid comeback! Even second place suddenly seems within reach. At the beginning of January last year, Zuckerberg was still far behind in 28th place. The business magazine “Bloomberg” (calculate differently than “Forbes”) now sees the Facebook boss in fourth place.

Meta stock is thundering upwards
The reason for Zuckerberg’s new mega-wealth is primarily the strong development of the shares of his meta-empire (including Facebook, WhatsApp and Instagram). After he left the company from Facebook Meta and bet everything on his vision of a virtual world called Metaverse, his company’s securities initially plummeted.
BUT: After that, the stocks suddenly exploded. It went from 120 euros in January last year to more than 500 euros today. An increase of more than 300 percent! Zuckerberg owns a lot of shares in Meta. Apparently many investors think his Metaverse vision is realistic.
Only had it on Wednesday Zuckerberg presented the prototype of computer glasses that can display digital content in transparent glasses. This could possibly later replace a smartphone in many cases – for example for navigation in the city or short messages.

Such glasses for displaying so-called augmented reality (AR) have been considered a life-changing vision in the tech industry for years. But also one that is technically difficult to implement. The Meta glasses are not yet intended for the mass market.
