The town hall in Trutnov is resolving a curious dispute with the social network Facebook. She published photographs of works of art on her profile, which are currently being exhibited at the local gallery. The social network evaluated it as the spread of pornography and canceled the site.
A big surprise awaited the employees of the municipal office and the inhabitants of Trutnov on Friday, when they found out that they would not get to the profile of the city on the social network. The city recently published photos from the exhibition in the city gallery, including images by the world-famous photographer František Drtikol. Facebook called it porn.
“This is definitely not pornography, it is an art and if someone considers acts to be pornography, even if it is a robot, then it is wrong,” the mayor of Trutnov, Ivan Adamec, does not understand.
Through the city’s website, we got to the website of the Trutnov gallery, where there are also photographs. Not surprisingly, no age limit table jumped on us. On the contrary, Facebook pages cannot be opened at all. But social networks follow a set algorithm.
The citizens of Trutnov are said to be used to searching for information about the city and events on the social network. Even now, however, they will certainly learn about the exhibition, and information about the city’s Facebook page being blocked quickly spread.
“We communicate a lot via Facebook, our citizens use it, it’s a shame,” Adamec added.
Communication with the social network is said to be very complicated. If the account is not operational in three weeks, the city will need to create a new profile. A similar case had to be solved at the beginning of the year by the French city of Bitche, whose name Facebook mistaken for an English swear word.
