After Instagram, Meta launches NFTs on Facebook
Whereas Meta announced support for non-fungible tokens (NFTs) on Instagram last Maythe firm seems set to make this feature also available on Facebook.
According to a post by Navdeep Singhproduct manager at Meta, it will be possible for Facebook users to directly post NFTs on the social network or to present them as a collection on their profile.

Meta, which clearly wishes to respond to the transition to Web 3.0, will thus allow users of the most widely used social network in the world to connect their wallet directly to the site.
Posts containing NFTs can be commented, liked or even shared in the same way as the classic posts that we already know.
According Mark Zuckerbergit will one day be possible to cross-post to both Instagram and Facebook. However, this is a feature that is still in the early stages of development.
In addition, the social network is said to be testing some interaction features such as chat rooms resembling those of the Discord platformfor example.
At the moment, the functionality test of NFT for Facebook is restricted to certain content creators in the United States. No date has been communicated as to their planned implementation for the general public.

Many new features are expected
Last May, we learned that Instagram would support the Solana (SOL), Ethereum (ETH), Polygon (MATIC) and Flow (FLOW) blockchains. to introduce NFTs on its platform.
No details have leaked on this subject concerning Facebook, but in view of the interoperability projects between the 2 platforms, everything suggests that the social network will follow the same path.
At the same time, Meta announced that its other applications, such as Messenger or WhatsAppshould also see the arrival of features relating to NFTs.
Mark Zuckerberg meanwhile recently said that Meta was working on augmented reality NFTs (3D NFT), which it will be possible to introduce into user stories via Spark ARthe company’s dedicated software platform.
Meta also specified that in order to overcome the carbon footprint induced by NFTs, it would invest in renewable energy solutions. This is also what explains its choice of blockchains operating through the proof-of-stake (PoS) consensus.
Finally, depending on the firm, the sharing or publication of NFTs will be totally free. However, these cannot be used to advertise on the network.
