Account has been blocked
BARSINGHAUSEN (red). The Facebook account of the city of Barsinghausen was taken over by an unknown person or organization, colloquially “hacked”. There is currently no way for the city administration to access it. Measures to regain control have so far been unsuccessful. In the meantime, the name and profile picture of the account have been changed so that it was also visually recognizable that the city administration is no longer responsible for the content of the Facebook page. The city administration has contacted META and Facebook support. A criminal complaint has also been filed and the responsible department of the criminal investigation department is handling the case. Due to the measures taken, the city’s Facebook account was blocked on August 8, 2024 and is no longer accessible. At this point in time, it cannot yet be said whether and, if so, when, the city administration will regain control of the account. It may also have to be completely recreated.
