Face uncovered, an Ivorian “soldier” says no to Ouattara’s third term (Video)

A video has gone viral on social media since yesterday. And it was Ivorian blogger Chris Yapi who first posted it on his youtube account. In this video, we can see a man claiming to be a sergeant named Rimo Rimo Antoine. He is said to be from the Akouédo military camp. He decided to speak with his face uncovered, because he was hurt and angry.

“I am not ready to shoot the Ivorian population”

In his 9 minutes 47 seconds video, Sergeant Rimo Rimo asks the President of the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire, Alassane Ouattara, to give up his project for a third term. Before denouncing “low blows” in the Ivorian Army.

“I am addressing the entire army of Côte d’Ivoire… I am also addressing the Ivorian population. We, engaged and trained soldiers, our sovereign mission is to protect the civilian populations, their property and also the Ivorian Constitution. Since the arrival of President Alassane Ouattara to power, we have only been experiencing injustice within the armies. The Ivorian army is divided […] After the death of Amadou Gon Coulibaly, the dishonest military manipulated President Ouattara to still be a candidate for a third term. Ministers hold meetings with the police, gendarmes and soldiers to shoot at civilian populations. We, police officers, gendarmes and soldiers say no. For that, me, Sergeant Rimo Rimo, I am not ready to shoot the Ivorian population ”, he said.
