One Type 45 destroyer armed with Type 23 anti-submarine anti-aircraft missiles and a Type 23 anti-submarine frigate will leave the Royal Navy (RAF) aircraft carrier task group in the Mediterranean and head via the Bosphorus to the Black Sea.
RAF F-35B Lightning stealth fighters and Merlin submarine chopper helicopters will be on board ships under the HMS Queen Elizabeth aircraft carrier task force to support warships in the Black Sea.
Tensions between Moscow and Kiev have escalated amid a buildup of Russian troops along the border and clashes in eastern Ukraine between soldiers and pro-Russian separatists.
Officials at the UK Ministry of Defense were not immediately available for comment on the planned deployment of two warships to the Black Sea.

A spokesman for the UK Ministry of Defense told the newspaper that the London government is working with Kiev to monitor the situation and continues to ask Russia to lower tensions.
“Britain and our international allies are unwavering in supporting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine,” a ministry spokesman was quoted as saying Reuters, Monday (19/4/2021).
