Nfter reports about the controversial use of facial recognition software at the entrance to the famous Madison Square Garden event hall, New York’s Attorney General Letitia James asked the operating company for answers. A corresponding letter had been sent to Madison Square Garden Entertainment Corporation, James announced on Wednesday.
In addition to Madison Square Garden, which hosts sporting events and concerts, the company also operates other venues such as Radio City Music Hall and the Beacon Theatre. According to reports, facial recognition software has been used at the entrance to these venues for some time, which, among other things, has been used to identify lawyers involved in lawsuits against the company. Despite valid tickets, they were then refused entry.
According to Attorney General James, employees of more than 90 law firms have been affected. By doing this, Madison Square Garden Entertainment Corporation may have broken the law, it said.
