Cesc Fabregas praising Chelsea’s new recruits, Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner. According to him, their combination could be Chelsea’s deadly weapon in the attack line.
Ziyech is one of the first recruits Chelsea in the transfer market last summer. The Moroccan international attacking midfielder was brought in from Ajax with a tag of 36 million pounds.
Chelsea then also recruited Werner from RB Leipzig. Ziyech and Werner are part of big shopping The Blues who later also brought in Kai Havertz, Ben Chilwell, Thiago Silva, and Edouard Mendy.
Chelsea are starting to reap the fruits of this huge spending with positive results recently. Frank Lampard’s team is unbeaten in the last eight matches in all competitions. They even recorded a winning streak in the last four matches.
Ziyech and Werner have played an important role in Chelsea’s positive run. Ziyech provided three assists and two goals in his last four appearances. While Werner is at his sharpest, notching seven goals in his last seven appearances for Chelsea.
Fabregas sees Ziyech as a player who has the vision to play well. The 27-year-old can support Werner to make Chelsea’s front line stronger.
“He has the vision you need in a top team like Chelsea who want to win and become champions,” Fabregas told 90min as reported Metro.
“It’s true that they were a team that lacked ideas last season and maybe at the start of this season. But, yes, with Ziyech, you can see he has the last pass and not only he saw it, he did it right and at the right time.”
“This is the decision making we are talking about at the moment. Why are the coaches so tactical? Because they see the players’ decision making is not that good so they have to teach them what to do.”
“I think he is one of the players who made something happen. The thing that, when a defender or center back does not expect you to make that pass and surprises them,” continued Fabregas, who played for Chelsea in 2014-2019.
“And you have players like Timo Werner running in and I think this is where Chelsea can be really strong this year,” said Fabregas.
Chelsea are now ranked fifth in the Premier League standings with 15 points from eight matches. They are the most fertile team in the Premier League with 20 goals.
