“I surprised myself, because I didn’t think I would be able to join those climbs today,” says Fabio Jakobsen. “That gave me morale.”
“But in the final it went so fast. In the distance I saw a big green motorcycle leading the way and it dragged everything apart. At 2 kilometers from the end I had to send out.”
“I didn’t have the legs to participate today. A combination of the course, the Pyrenees and my general condition. That’s why I said 50 kilometers from the finish that it had to be for Sénéchal. I’m glad he still achieved a good result (4th).”
Jakobsen will finish his first Tour, but he wants more. “I think I’ll be there on Sunday, that’s more my thing. Not so hot anymore, short laps – not around the church but the Eiffel Tower – and then also those cobblestones.”
