Dylan Groenewegen and Fabio Jakobsen had already relieved each other as stage winner in the Tour of Wallonia earlier this week, today it was the same again.
Yesterday Groenewegen was the speed demon on duty, but today the legs of the Dutch sprint bomb exploded in the difficult final.
Fabio Jakobsen had survived the numerous attacks on Quinn Simmons’ throne and could count on an extensive crew to guide him to the finish in a seat.
The Dutchman was driven by Florian Sénéchal and everyone sprinted out of the wheel as in his best days. In the background, overall winner Quinn Simmons also made a victory gesture.

Fabio Jakobsen recorded his first victory a few days ago, almost a year after his crash in the Tour of Poland. Jakobsen was then the fastest after a bite in Zolder, this victory was a lot less obvious.
“Whether this victory is therefore more beautiful? Just as beautiful”, the stage winner smiled. “This was a difficult course. I suffered, just like yesterday. Then I was not good enough, today I had the legs.”
“I thank my teammates for their perfect lead-out,” said Jakobsen, who also praised guardian angel Sénéchal. The Frenchman played a crucial role in the first concerns in Poland.
“It gives me goosebumps. He saved my life and helped me win. We love each other, as it were,” concluded Jakobsen, who normally starts on August 14 in the Vuelta. “And I want to win there too.”
