Fabio Di Giannantonio Determined to Stay in MotoGP despite Losing His Seat

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Gresini Racing racer Fabio Di Giannantonio managed to show good performance in the last two series.

Previously, this Ducati satellite team rider managed to finish in fourth position at the Mandalika MotoGP. This positive achievement continued the following week, where Diggia managed to secure the third podium at the Australian GP.

Unfortunately, it was too late for Diggia to save his seat in MotoGP. Because, his position has been replaced by eight-time world champion Marc Marquez who will join Gresini Racing in the 2024 season.

Even though his future is unclear, Diggia firmly expressed his determination to remain in MotoGP.

“At the moment I only get offers from the bar next to the circuit. But we work hard! What is certain is that the goal is to survive. “I feel like a MotoGP racer, and I proved to myself and others that I am fast enough to stay on this grid,” said Diggia, quoted from The Race, Sunday (22/10/2023).

This 25 year old racer actually still has a glimmer of hope. The reason is, currently there is still one seat left in MotoGP at the Repsol Honda team which is looking for a replacement for Marquez for next season.

Moreover, Honda seems to be having difficulty attracting Maverick Vinales and Miguel Oliveira regarding contract issues. The two riders are predicted to be strong candidates as Marquez’s replacement.

“At the moment, it looks like we have some opportunities, and we will see how it develops with the next offer,” Diggia said.

“It seems like at the moment Honda is the available seat. My goal is to stay, and if there is still a seat at Repsol Honda why not take it? But in this paddock you never know,” he continued.
