remote village. Third test game for handball third division TuS Ferndorf. Fabian Hecker is in a class of his own on the golf club.
After a strenuous weekend with a training camp, test match and a round of golf, the third division handball players at TuS Ferndorf really deserved the training-free Monday. Trying out a completely different sport was a lot of fun and promoted a sense of community. Some found it difficult on the driving range and when putting with the filigree stroke technique – not so Fabian Hecker. The backcourt player turned out to be the best golfing TuS handball player alongside coach Ceven Klatt.
Training resumed on Tuesday, with four players missing or able to train individually: Valentino Duvancic, Paul Schikora, Alexander Reimann and Mattis Michel. While Duvancic and Schikora cannot play in Saturday’s test at HSG Krefeld Niederrhein (7 p.m.), Alex Reimann has hope. The left winger recently complained about thigh problems. Mattis Michel will also make the trip to the Rhineland. “We would like to have him with us. But I can’t imagine that he’ll be able to play minutes,” says assistant coach and brother Jannis Michel, “we can’t rush anything.”
After the Longerich guest appearance (28:23), HSG Krefeld will be the next benchmark for Ferndorf. The team of Mark Schmetz has, among other things, strengthened with the ex-Ferndorfer Jörn Persson in the “middle” and is counted among the top favorites in the south-west relay. The Krefeld team, who lost 30:31 in the promotion round against Ferndorf in their own hall last season, underlined these ambitions with a 29:29 test against the second division team TSV Bayer Dormagen.
