Dangerous relationships is the title of the comedy that opens the year and the on-site programming of the Regina Theater Complex. This double premiere, of the room under new management and of the work of the Italian Aldo Nicolaj (a playwright who died in 2004, widely represented in Buenos Aires at the end of the sixties), has two protagonists, Claribel medina and Fabián Gianola, actor who also directs this show, with music by Martín Bianchedi.
As of Saturday 2, with the corresponding protocols and in the spacious Mirtha Legrand room, viewers will be able to see three stories, three stories about complex bonds with a lot of black humor. “They are relationships that go through hypocrisy and falsehood, always looking for personal goals and not only in a partner”, says the actor and director, very happy to work with Claribel Medina again: “It gives me a lot of confidence, she is a great comedian, we know the springs that move us and it is a great text “. Together they made Songs to Watch, a musical by María Elena Walsh, almost twenty years ago, and in cinema, Your eyes were shiningby Silvio Fischbein.
He does not acknowledge having a career as a director but rather it is something he assumes “when asked”: “I feel very comfortable in that role because I am an actor who is always attentive to everything that is happening and to the entire show. It is very natural for me, I like to take care of everything. And it does not interfere with my performance because I always work with assistant directors I trust who can point out that there is a need to change or improve “, says the interpreter and director of works such as Unfaithful spirit, by Noël Coward, which he presented in the 2016 Mar del Plata season.
It was also in Mar del Plata but in the distant summer of 2020 where Gianola worked together with Rodolfo Ranni and other popular figures in the Burlesque Baires Show, in the Provincial, with the direction of Osvaldo Laport. When he returned to Buenos Aires on March 15, he was sure that on April 30 the show would continue on Corrientes Street. But you already know what happened. Two movies, one of them for Netflix, Everyone has a family with Diego Peretti, they were also canceled and postponed for the nearest possible future. During the months of isolation, Gianola did not stream but returned to Radio Colonia where he had already hosted a program in 2019.
That year, 2019, was complex for the actor. Two women reported him to the Justice for sexual abuse, actress Fernanda Meneses (they worked together in Fabián’s kiosk, by Channel 9, in 2015) and the presenter Viviana Aguirre (in radio Colonia, in 2019). According to the lawyer who represents him, Juan Pablo Fioribello, the same as Moria Casán and Andrea del Boca, they are non-existent causes: in both cases, the witnesses testified in favor of their client and at no time was he called to testify. “I calculate that they are about to be filed, the panorama is very clear”, says the criminal lawyer consulted by THE NATION because Gianola prefers not to talk about it: “I followed my life naturally, although slander affects but the family and your co-workers know who you are. My life did not change, that is my reality.”
Like other celebrities who approached politics, in 2013 he was a candidate for deputy on the list of Sergio Mazza, from the Renovador Front and current president of the Chamber of Deputies. However, he assures that it was the only time: “I am totally away from politics. That was nominal support, I never wanted to have a position, I told Mazza that I wanted to go after number 20 on the list so as not to enter, I was interested the support, not the position. I was never linked. ” If you were disappointed in politics before, during or after that time, the answer is “a lifetime.” “Since I can remember, politics, in general, always ends up disappointing people. Let’s see the world, it is getting worse and worse, there is more and more poverty and violence, politics was never the solution, it finally disappoints.” On the other hand, he does not feel harmed by the ideological differences in the artistic union between Kirchnerists and anti. “Not at all, I live it naturally, each one with their opinion, I worked with actors and actresses who had different opinions from me and we all maintained the logic and professionalism necessary to give opinions,” he says.
Son of actor Beto Gianola, Fabián is the father of Camila, 25, and Nicolás, 22. Neither of them chose acting: Camila sings and is a composer but “as a hobby” and Nicolás studies Foreign Trade. “What matters is that they are happy, that they do what they like, we enjoy that as a family,” he says, still saddened by the death of his friend. Carlos Andrés Calvo, who worked with Laughter on the 23rd floor (1994), Taxi (2004) and Taxi 2 (2008/9): “I couldn’t take it anymore, it was a foretold death. A person with a rare charisma, much loved, and seeing him like that was very sad.”

Closeup face Tyr from 1999 to 2004, twice a week, together with Claudio Morgado, Gianola does not miss “at all” television conduction. “That program was a success, I won a Martín Fierro and a Clarín award as a conductor. Swell three years, all good. But I don’t install myself in what I do, I have priorities and needs that are changing, “he says. What he does not feel particularly affected by is the change in the paradigm of humor. The expansion of rights and the visibility of minority groups deactivated stereotypes that they are no longer funny. “I’ve never had a problem or thought about changing a character or story. I’m not a comedian, I’m an actor, I don’t do humor, I do comedy. I receive a text that has already been screened so I do not change anything, I see if I accept the role or not, “says the actor who does not know whether or not the gay character he played in the comedy could be done in the same way. The family Welcome at the beginning of the 90s and for which Martín Fierro won his first as a supporting actor. “I don’t know, since I don’t, I don’t know what people would say today. The ability to laugh at ourselves is always latent, it seems to me more a fear than a reality, do mothers-in-law get angry if there is a mother-in-law joke? I don’t know, “he replies.
For now, the power is on this summer at Dangerous relationships. And confidently and serenely, he repeats that the theater is not contagious: “You walk through Palermo on a Friday night and it is full of people of all ages, close to each other. In each performance, they take a lot of precautions for an hour or two for shows. Compare it to a long-distance bus trip. The theater is not contagious, we have already passed the test, if there is a regrowth that the authorities do not catch hold of the return of the theater. “
