“F1 Witnessing First-Ever Four DRS Zones at Australian GP”

As revealed by the FIA a few weeks ago, there will be 4 DRS zones this season on the Albert Park circuit.

Used during the day Friday in Melbourne in 2022, this 4th DRS zone was then removed for security reasons. It is, however, back this season and should therefore make it possible to compete in the first F1 Grand Prix with 4 DRS activation zones.

This famous area was created thanks to the modification of the layout of Albert Park last year. Removing the chicane allows for a long full load period between turns 8 and 9. This is where the 4th zone is added.

Note that only 2 detection points are present for 4 activation zones.

Asked at a press conference about the arrival of the 4th DRS zone, Pierre Gasly was positive about this change. “Yes, I think it will be interesting“says the Frenchman.

“Obviously we know that Melbourne is generally a very difficult circuit to overtake, so if you can increase the overtaking opportunities, improve the racing, make it a little more fun and a little more contested at this circuit, I think that’s definitely positive.“

“But it’s not guaranteed”warns the Alpine driver. “We’ll see in free practice what we get and the most important thing is to make sure we’re fast enough to fight for the points we want.
