ISTANBUL – Racing Formula One (F1) GP Turki 2021 at the Istanbul Park Circuit, Sunday (10/10/2021), evening WIB. Mercedes AMG Petronas Racers, Vallteri Bottas, being the fastest in this race.
Road Race
Starting the race with a slightly wet circuit, Bottas was able to maintain his position as the leader. Behind him are Max Verstappen (second) and Charles Lecrerc (third).
Fernando Alonso had bad luck on the first lap. The Spaniard was nudged by Pierre Gasly at the first corner so he had to jump from fifth to 15th.
For the incident, Pierre Gasly had to receive a penalty for five seconds. The same thing was also given to Fernando Alonso who had contact with Mick Schumacher.
Bottas’ teammate, Lewis Hamilton, was able to show his ability in this race. Starting the race from the order of 11, the British racer was able to occupy the fifth position on lap 14.
Approaching lap 20, Verstappen approached Bottas to take first place and shift Hamilton’s position as the leader of the standings. However, Bottas also tried to go faster to secure his position.
Mercedes asked Bottas to follow Verstappen’s lead to enter the pits on lap 38. After exiting the pits, Leclerc was in first position with a difference of five seconds from Bottas.
However, with fresh tires, Bottas was able to catch up to Leclerc and reclaim the first position on lap 47. The Finnish racer was able to overtake Leclerc at the first corner.
Leclerc also struggled to maintain his position. After deciding to pit at the third corner, the Ferrari driver lost his podium position after being overtaken by Sergio Perez on lap 51.
These results lasted until the race ended. Bottas was able to become the winner, followed by the Red Bull Racing duo, namely Verstappen and Perez. Meanwhile, Leclerc and Hamilton were behind them.
