F1 test in Bahrain, Bottas rekindles Mercedes. Ferrari does not shine, good Giovinazzi with Alfa

On the second day of work, the W12 is seen again in front of everyone, despite a spin by Hamilton in the morning. Alonso resumed as he had never stopped, a nice 5th time for the Pugliese

A Mercedes in trouble yesterday, in trouble this morning with Lewis Hamilton in the gravel and then … And then at the end of the second day of the F1 tests here is Valtteri Bottas bringing the W12 in front of everyone. The Finnish’s paw in 1’30 ”289 allowed the world champion team to close in front of everyone and to silence a little the grumbling raised by the first performances of the new car from Stuttgart, which appeared late. But be careful to give the champions trouble: even two years ago the tests did not signal a great Mercedes at the start, then in Australia the music changed drastically.

Caution with champions …

Caution is a must and they are well aware of this even in Red Bull, which today with Sergio Perez completed 117 laps (and also lost the hood in the final session). When asked about the bad start topic, today Lewis Hamilton broke off and recalled that the champions only think about completing the program: “We have done fewer km than others like Red Bull, we continue with our program and we think about improving overall efficiency. . Difficult or worried start? We are just focused on our work and on the laps to do “.

Bravo Alonso

Today we saw Fernando Alonso again on the track, who with the Alpine immediately took off the rust and seemed to have never stopped. For him the 10th overall time which, however, was the second at the lunch break, when he was running in very hot conditions, not comparable to the cool of the afternoon, the moment in which the best times arrived with red tires.

Great Giovinazzi

Behind Bottas excellent performances by Gasly with the AlphaTauri, by Lance Stroll with Aston Martin (who, however, left Vettel in the morning for a gearbox trouble) and Antonio Giovinazzi, a nice fifth with Alfa Romeo. Ferrari finished sixth with Charles Leclerc and 13th with Carlos Sainz. The two Ferrari drivers completed 129 laps together and it is too early to make any judgments, even if overall the SF21 did not seem to have completely solved last year’s problems. Twelfth and 14th time for the two of Haas, Mick Schumacher and Nikita Mazepin, with the Russian who can enjoy his name for a day ahead of those of Lewis Hamilton and Sebastian Vettel. Things to test.
