The International Automobile Federation (FIA) on Friday punished the Red Bull team with a $ 7 million fine and wasted time for wind tunnel testing.
These are penalties for exceeding the 2021 F1 engine series cost limit of approximately $ 2 million during Max Verstappen’s first championship season.
The AP agency reported that Red Bull has avoided the deduction of points or other sporting penalties. The Dutch driver defended the world champion title this year and the team also secured the Constructors’ Cup early. There are still three races to go until the end of the season, the Mexican Grand Prix is scheduled for Sunday.
FIA and Red Bull have agreed on a fine and a 10 percent reduction in the allotted time in the wind tunnel for 2023. Red Bull has 30 days to pay the fine.
