Movement in recent weeks Black Lives Matter – explains the stable – has turned on a light on what still needs to be done to combat racism and all forms of intolerance. We too have learned from it to build a new future. We are open to diversity but also aware that within our organization only 3% of workers belong to ethnic minorities and that only 12% are women. We need to find a new approach to reach areas of society and new talents where we still don’t get there.

This is why the team led by Toto Wolff has chosen to repaint the Silver arrows turning them into political single-seaters. On both cars, by Hamilton and Bottas, slogans such as End Racism have been inserted alongside the F1 WeRaceAsO initiative represented by a small rainbow. the appetizer to a wider program that will be launched by Mercedes itself this year: Our commitment to this cause will be irreversible as Wolff explains: Racism and discrimination must have no place in sport and in the world in general. But we have a duty not to remain silent. We want to use our voice as the F1 platform to support respect and equality. Las our livery sends a message to the people to encourage them to act.

Words shared with Lewis Hamilton: I experienced racism on my skin and on that of my family and friends – adds the English driver – I speak with my heart when I cry for change. I thank the board of directors of Daimler, the whole team, for understanding my passion and for making such an important commitment.
