Lewis Hamilton will start from pole position in the Made in Italy and Emilia Romagna GP, the second round of the 2021 Formula 1 World Championship.
The English pilot of the Mercedes , already winner of the first race of the year in Bahrain, managed to precede Sergio Perez’s Red Bull for a few seconds: for the seven-time world champion he is the pole number 9 9 of the career.
Disappointment instead for Max Verstappen , who will only start from third position due to a bad mistake in Q3. At his side in the second row the Ferrari of Charles Leclerc which preceded Pierre Gasly’s AlphaTauri.
To complete the top ten the two McLaren by Daniel Ricciardo and Lando Norris who preceded the other great disappointment of the day, the Mercedes of Valtteri Bottas , also the protagonist of several mistakes in the last two attempts in Q3.
Ninth and tenth Esteban Ocon’s Alpine and Lance Stroll’s Aston Martin.
Still bad Sebastian Vettel , 13th and out in Q3 with his Aston Martin like the other Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz , which will start only from 11th place.
For the Reds, therefore, indications in chiaroscuro after qualifying: the team places itself in front of the McLarens, rivals for the third place behind the impregnable Mercedes and Red Bull, but while Leclerc confirmed the fourth place of Sakhir, while Sainz loses three positions compared to eighth place in his first GP with Ferrari, the same position in which the Spaniard then closed the race.
Pay attention, however, to the potential of the McLarens: Norris in fact saw the second best time canceled due to the “track limits“.
