F1 GP Spain: FP3 live, qualifying from 3 pm

Fourth appointment with the 2021 Formula 1 World Championship: the Spanish GP is staged at Montmelò in Barcelona. The 2021 championship is experiencing another episode of the world championship challenge between Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen, with the seven-time British champion leading by two wins (Bahrain and Portugal) to one (Made in Italy at Imola). FP3 is scheduled for midday, qualifying and the fight for pole position at 3 pm (here the whole program of the Spanish weekend).

On the first day on the track at the Catalan circuit, the Mercedes were the fastest. In FP1 it was Valtteri Bottas who set the best time with 1’18 “504, followed by Max Verstappen with Red Bull (here the analysis of Free 1 at Montmelò). In FP2 it was Lewis Hamilton’s turn to lower the times of his Finnish companion: best on the track with 1’18 ”170, less than two tenths ahead of Bottas himself (here the full report).

Solid day for the Maranello team, with Leclerc and Sainz (in that order) in fifth and sixth place in FP1 but both less than half a second from Bottas’ best time. Further growth for Charles Leclerc in the second free practice, with the Monegasque third on the track less than two tenths from Hamilton and Sainz eighth but still half a second from the top.
