F1, Ferrari: Vettel’s future in the balance, a new hypothesis appears

What the future of Sebastian Vettel is far from Ferrari has been official for months now. It is more surprising, however, how the relationship between the four-time world champion and the Maranello stable has deteriorated, including misunderstandings with the pits and sparks with the team principal Mattia Binotto. A very disappointing season that, according to the former F1 driver Ralf Schumacher, could speed up Vettel’s decision-making process in favor of a sabbatical.

The brother of the legendary Michael, to ‘Sky Deutschland’, pointed out that the market rumors around Vettel have suddenly subsided after the difficulties of the last few weeks. “The situation around him has become very quiet” he has declared.

The former Jordan, Williams and Toyota driver also stated that the solution Racing Point, for Vettel, is getting further and further given the good performance of Sergio Perez and the presence, as a backup, of a talented driver like Nico Hulkenberg.

First, in any case, there is a season to finish evidently born under an evil star but which must necessarily be completed by trying to get some good results. “As far as he is concerned, the goal is just to stay ahead of his teammate Leclerc in the last few races – said Ralf Schumacher -, to then go home and think whether he wants to continue or not. He may even have decided to take himself a year off“.

During the various press conferences and interviews at the end of the race, a Vettel the question about his has often been asked future. The answers of the German champion are, by his own admission, a “copy and paste“. “As I have already said – he reiterated in a recent interview – if I continue in Formula 1 it will be to win, not simply to stay in the loop, participate and accumulate more races ”.

What is certain is that Vettel’s adventure in Ferrari is ending in worst of ways: the German has not won a match since GP in Singapore last year, and has only scored two podiums since then, again in last season’s finale. His best result this year is a sixth place in Hungary. In the last three races he also finished for twice outside the scoring area, in Gp 70th anniversary and in that of Belgium.
