The FIA has announced that it reserves the right to carry out checks at any time during the GP weekends. The motorsport association has sent a note to all teams stating what they must adhere to.
The controls are not completely out of the blue. Ferrari is suspected of manipulating the fuel supply sensor last year, allowing the scarlet cars to use more fuel with impunity and to have had more power and top speed for some time. In addition, some teams were suspected of burning oil illegally to improve engine performance. The FIA previously announced that Formula 1 engines should consume no more than 0.3 liters per 100 kilometers this year. This is measured by means of a sensor.
To do this, the teams must seal the engines before entering the track. The FIA will also monitor the degree of energy recovery via ERS. A sensor is installed in the car for this.
Finally, the FIA sent a note to the teams about the homologation of pit stop equipment.
