The Briton can start from the first place in Saturday’s sprint race of the Formula 1 Chinese Grand Prix.

The McLaren competitor had several good laps in the start, which were taken away due to a minor mistake, and the last one was also disqualified by the race judges, but in the end it was determined that he did not leave the track with four wheels, so he got the winner’s time back.

The seven-time world champion British Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes) finished in second place, while the 42-year-old, two-time World Cup winner from Spain Fernando Alonso (Aston Martin) came third. Dutch champion Max Verstappen (Red Bull), who leads the world championship points race, finished fourth.

Qualifying had to be interrupted for a quarter of an hour after the first stage, as part of the grass next to the track caught fire.

The domestic audience greeted Chou Kuan-yue, the Saubert driver, with a standing ovation, who caused a surprise by making it to the third stage. The drivers completed the last stage in rainy weather, as a result of which the track “slowed down” for about half a minute, and the cars slid back and forth on the asphalt.

The 19-lap sprint race will be held on Saturday at 5 a.m. Hungarian time, the race will be broadcast live by M4 Sport.
