F1 change of leadership – Kerry will be replaced by former ‘Ferrari’ boss Domenikalli next year

Stefano Domenikalli, the former leader of the Ferrari team and the current director of Lamborghini, will replace Chase Kerry as the Executive Director of the Formula 1 Championship from next year.

American Carrey took over these responsibilities from Bernie Ecleston following the takeover of Liberty Media F1 in 2017, while Ross Brown took over the role of director of management, while Shin Braces oversaw the finance side. Kerry had previously commented on the possible reduction of his role next year and Domenikalli had already agreed to such an offer.

Stefano Domenikalli began his Ferrari career in 1991, but left the team in 2014, when he refused to comply with the Lucas di Montidzemolo directive and dismiss the head of the team’s engine department for poor results at the beginning of the V6 hybrid era. Domenikalli became Ferrari’s manager in 2008, replacing Jean Todd.

As Formula One driver, Domenikalli will reunite with Ross Brown, who was Ferrari’s technical director while Domenikalli served as sports director. Both will have to work with FIA President Jean Todd in his last year of FIA leadership. Since leaving Ferrari, Domenikalli has worked for the FIA, Audi and Lamborghini.

Domenikalli’s entry coincides with the beginning of the new era of the Formula 1 championship, as Chase Carrey ended his reign by completing the main task – signing a Concorde contract with all 10 teams and achieving a more equal distribution of money in F1.
