Looking at the history, you could expect a fairly action-packed continuation, especially since this time the field was greeted by sunny weather. The teams chose quite different tactics, during the first stage the soft, medium and hard mixes were also at work.
After the first laps, the Ferrari duo led by Charles Leclerc were in the lead, then the Red Bull couple, Max Verstappen and Sergio Pérez, followed in the top 5 by Lewis Hamilton, who complained about bouncing.
At half-time, Sainz was already leading, followed by Lando Norris, Leclerc, Fernando Alonso and George Russell, while Hamilton, who complained about bouncing in the fast corners of the track, took twelfth place.
After completing the time trial simulations, Sainz was already leading with a lap of 1:28.942, which no one could do better, so the second training session ended with his first place. Hamilton followed in second place, the seven-time world champion was 163 thousandths behind, followed by compatriot Lando Norris, individual overall leader Verstappen, and Leclerc in the top five.
The disadvantage of the Monaco driver was 462 thousandths, behind him Alonso, Sergio Pérez, Russell, Daniel Ricciardo and Lanco Stroll completed the top ten.
