2024 Mexico City Grand Prix

One of the Mexican’s lowest moments in 2023 occurred at the start of the Mexico City Grand Prix, when his push to exit the first corner while leading the race at home led him to collide with Charles Leclerc’s Ferrari. The impact caused Checo Pérez to retire without even completing a lap and dashed the hopes of tens of thousands of fans who dreamed of seeing the Red Bull driver on the top step of the podium. Visibly frustrated, Pérez admitted to the press the reason behind his reckless start: “Today I was only thinking about winning in Mexico and when I had the opportunity I risked it, perhaps too much,” he explained.

A year after his early retirement, Checo Pérez will try to return to the podium at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez and surpass the third place achieved in 2021 and 2022, the highest position he has achieved in the Mexico City Grand Prix. Formula 1 will return to the capital on the weekend of October 25-27, 2024. As with every edition, the tickets offered to through Ticketmaster were sold out just a few hours later from the start of general sales; however, it is likely that as the event approaches, both the box office and the main sponsors will release tickets for most locations.
