Ferrari unveiled its racing car this year on Thursday: the F1-75 has focused on its aggressive side design, as it is not only gill-like, Aston Martin the car also has returning ribs, but there is also a U-shaped, continuously deepening channel.
The renowned technical draftsman Giorgio Piola a Motorsport.comHowever, he pointed to something else in his writing, namely the modular nose cone unprecedented in Formula One. The bottom line is that Ferrari has submitted its new car for crash testing essentially without a front wing, but on a regular basis – at the side of the nose cone, under the Santander sponsorship inscription, ad and a fault line can be observed between these letters.
A smart solution on the Ferrari F1-75: we marked with arrows the fault line that is the central part of the modular design.

The Ferrari car passed the crash test back in December, and by doing so with essentially a truncated nose design, the team can save themselves a lot of headaches later on. This way, the front wing can be developed and modified much more flexibly without having to resubmit the F1-75 for a crash test, which is not only costly but also time consuming.
Piola points out that thanks to its modular design, Ferrari can respond more quickly to even a better solution from a rival team, while feeling less of the economic burden of the $ 140 million cost ceiling and thus managing its resources better.
The shorter nose tip is also advantageous in that it is easier to replace in the event of an injury. Ferrari’s solution also differs from the others in that it uses a much wider main wing element (which essentially covers the area between the wingtip and the nose cone).
The modular nose cone is less conspicuous from the front: the fault line is to be found here between the Pirelli and Mahel sponsor inscriptions.

How successful Ferrari’s solution will be will probably only be revealed at the start of the season, but it can be reassuring to Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz that they’ll pick up the F1-75’s unique style notes before the tests.
This season, only two teams of debtors have their official car show: the new Alpine will be unveiled on Monday, while Alfa Romeo’s 2022 car – with the final paint – will only be unveiled on 27 February after tests in Barcelona. Our writings on previous presentations at this link can be found.
