“F1 23 Deep Dive: New Gameplay Changes, Tracks, and Red Flag Feature”

F1 23 launches next month, so Codemasters took a deep dive today to showcase the new features for their latest Formula 1 installment. You can witness deep dives here. The video mostly includes changes to the gameplay to create a more authentic F1 experience.

F1 23 Gameplay Changes

Precision Drive™ Technology allows more adjustment for the driver without adjusting the steering wheel controls. Players with a smooth or aggressive racing style will be able to customize many different aspects of their car. Gamers will be able to calibrate various aspects of steering, throttle and brakes. Plus, things like vibration and force feedback can also be adjusted to an incredible degree of precision.

35% Race Distance

While being able to race the full 44-78 laps is realistic, it’s not ideal for players looking to play that long. The first time tested with F1 esports, 35% Race Distance will balance the length of the race while prioritizing tire wear. This option was never available before, and fans of the series have been asking for it since F1 21 (Codemasters’ first F1 game).

Red flag

For the first time in the Codemasters Formula 1 series is the introduction of a red flag, which will cause all drivers to complain and suspend or even complete the race. Things that can raise red flags include cars parked on the track, debris, and bad weather conditions. The red flag sensitivity can be adjusted depending on your preference, similar to how the safety car feature works in the previous title. Not only can players cause red flags, so can AI, but the developer has stated that will be more likely during multiplayer races.

During the Red Flag, players can adjust race strategy, repair car damage and change tires.

Las Vegas and Qatar tracks

For the first time, players will be able to experience Las Vegas’ new circuit before the professionals race in real life. The Las Vegas and Qatar tracks feature beautiful night time designs. The team at Codemasters used thousands of reference photos to build the Las Vegas track as accurately as possible.

Fan favorite tracks like Portimão, Paul Ricard and Shanghai will also return to F1 23.

Deep Dive Episode 2 Date

Codemasters will be hosting part 2 of their deep dive series, which will be released on YouTube on May 19th. F1 23 was released on 16 June. For more details on the release date and edition, check out our article here.
