Many of the refugees who have arrived will be hosted by relatives and friends, others, who have no destination, will be welcomed in the structures of the Community of Sant’Egidio.
“It is my father Nereo who taught me solidarity”, declared Ezio: “A man who has spent more than 3 years in war, the difficulties of the front and the concentration camp. But also those of the Italian families of my relatives during the Nazi occupation they made me sensitive to the tragedy of war since I was a boy. My friend Francesco Nespega from Rome who went personally a few days ago to recover the first refugees with a van told me about his experience: I understood that it could be done something concrete, and as I have been doing for 28 years for the neonatal wards, I acted directly and organized this first mission. From today this bridge between Munich – Italy – Ukraine begins to rescue many people and give them hope to escape from the horror of war, to give them hope and a little peace of mind while waiting for this drama to end and for them to return to Ukraine in the future, to their loved ones and to their homes “.
