The “Jewish Greatness” party, led by the extremist Israeli Minister of National Security, Itamar Ben Gvir, announced, on Tuesday, the end of the boycott of government meetings, following the assassination of leaders of the Jihad movement in the Gaza Strip, which also resulted in the deaths of women and children.
The leader of the party, Ben Gvir, decided to boycott the meetings of the government and the Knesset (parliament) last week, in protest against what he said was a “weak” reaction to the rockets fired by the Palestinian factions at southern Israel after the death of the leader of the Jihad movement, Khader Adnan, in a striking Israeli prison. He abstained from food for 87 days in protest of his administrative detention.
However, the dispute does not seem to have ended between Netanyahu’s Likud party and Ben Gvir’s party.
The official Israeli “Kan” channel said that Ben Gvir is calling for several things to restore cohesion in the coalition government, including carrying out a massive military operation in the West Bank and approving parts of the judicial amendments that sparked widespread protests in the Jewish state.
