The natural phenomenon could cause landslides, overflows and floods, among other effects. Authorities ask for “extreme precautions.”
Tropical Storm Max made landfall in the Mexican municipality of Petatlán, state of Guerrero, with maximum sustained winds of 95 kilometers per hour (km/h) and gusts of 110 km/h, according to reported this Monday the National Water Commission (Conagua).
In a press release, Conagua indicated that “it torrential rain forecast continues in regions of Guerrero and Michoacán; intense in areas of Colima, Jalisco and western Oaxaca; very strong in places in Morelos, and strong in localities in the State of Mexico”.
In addition, he warned that there will be “wind gusts of 90 to 110 km/h and waves of 4 to 6 meters (m) high on the coasts of Colima, Guerrero and Michoacán; gusts of 50 to 70 km/h and waves of 1 to 3 m high on the coasts of Jalisco and western Oaxaca, as well as possible waterspouts off the coasts of Colima, Guerrero and Michoacán.”
“Las precipitation could be with electric shocks and generate landslides, increase in levels of rivers and streams, overflows and floods in areas of the aforementioned states,” he added.

The governor of Guerrero, Evelyn Salgado Pineda, called the population to “exercise extreme caution, not cross streams, rivers and do not leave the house if it is not necessary“. Conagua expressed itself along the same lines, which also asked to follow the recommendations of Civil Protection.
