Extreme crowds at overloaded energy companies, websites and apps

“It is true that the app is currently a bit overloaded”, informs Eneco on social networks. Anyone who tried to open the energy company’s app was shown a screen with the message that they should wait a bit. Customers were entered into a digital queue. “New partnership with Efteling?” asked a Twitter user. For some, the waiting time was almost half an hour.

Vattenfall’s website was also down due to crowds, so customers couldn’t, for example, submit meter readings. “Not very useful at a time like this,” the energy company admitted via Twitter. It would now be possible to transmit the meter readings again.

Price cap and new VAT rate

One reason people are flocking to energy company websites today is that the cap went into effect on January 1. Anyone who still has an old energy meter has to submit the meter readings manually.

The higher VAT rate of 21% now also applies. Many people are curious about what all of this means for their energy bill.
