Denmark and Sweden are experiencing severe cold with temperatures below -40 degrees Celsius for two consecutive days. Swedish Lapland is experiencing the most severe cold weather in 25 years, with temperatures dropping to -43.6 degrees Celsius.
In Northern Europe, major transportation was paralyzed and several bridges were closed due to a record-breaking cold wave. Trains and ferries have stopped operating and schools are closed. Danish authorities issued a warning to refrain from unnecessary travel, including going out and driving.

According to the Guardian, this cold weather is the result of cold air coming from Siberia and the Arctic region. Moscow, Russia is also shivering at temperatures below -30 degrees Celsius, well below the average temperature in January.
While Northern Europe is struggling with severe cold, Western Europe is under threat from floods and storms. The UK, Ireland, and the Netherlands are experiencing regional power outages and property damage due to storms.
In England and Wales, flood warnings have been issued in more than 300 areas, and more than 10,000 households are suffering from power outages. In the Netherlands, there were deaths due to strong winds, and an accident occurred where the embankment that controls the water level was washed away. In Pas-de-Calais, northern France, 10,000 households lost power due to heavy rain.
The Korea Meteorological Administration predicted flooding and winds in northern France, Belgium, Luxembourg, and parts of Germany until the 5th, and predicted that the rain and wind would reach up to 100 km/h.
