About twenty projects that cover fiction, animation and documentary and that come from Latin America, Spain, Portugal and Extremadura will be selected to participate in the Cáceres town of Guadalupe in a Film Residency in the month of November.
Those interested in being part of this program, led by the film director and producer who has won two Goya Awards, Juan Antonio Moreno, together with the screenwriter and international advisor Yolanda Barrasa, will be able to register their projects until October 20 on the website of Extremadura Film Residency.
The residency will take place in Guadeloupe for a week with the aim of preparing filmmakers and their projects for the international market, who will be given a training focus on international audiences, narrative structures and the soul of the script.
“The close relationship between Extremadura and Ibero-America makes Guadeloupe a favorable environment for the coexistence of filmmakers, the creation and development of projects, forging collaborations between Spain, Portugal and Ibero-America,” the organization highlighted in a press release.
Of the 20 selected projects, ten will be from Latin America, five from Spain and another five from Extremadura. In addition, at least one project from Portugal will be included.
CREATION RESIDENCE
The selected filmmakers will enjoy a “unique creation residency”, with access to experts and the opportunity to participate in an activity aimed at promoting their projects in international markets and festivals.
Additionally, during the residency, an industry and business meeting will be held at the Monasterio de Guadalupe, focused on strengthening the financing of the projects, including the participation of public and private funds.
Within the framework of the Film Residency, an Ibero-American Film Week will be held at the Guadalupe Cultural and Congress Center where films by the professionals who will participate in the Residency will be shown to create a “close relationship” between Guadalupe and the residents. as well as a visit to the UNESCO Villuercas Geopark, Ibores Jara.
The Extremadura Film Residency is an initiative that seeks to generate alliances and connect cultures to encourage experimentation, research and creation of stories linked to the territory, with the potential to become fiction, animated or documentary films.
The executive direction of the Residency is in charge of the Extremaduran production company Making DOC and the academic direction is the responsibility of the script doctor Yolanda Barrasa. In addition, various specialized advisors will help strengthen the projects in different aspects of film production.
The ultimate goal is to prepare the projects for the ‘final pitch’ before a jury, with the possibility of obtaining awards that include participation in a “prestigious international film festival” and a “relevant international market.”
Likewise, each day of the Film Residency will open with a masterclass that will address advanced topics in scriptwriting, documentary, animation, international audiovisual industry, audiences, marketing and distribution.
