In a verbal note, the Russian side has agreed to create a “blue safe corridor” along which the ship with 17 Bulgarian sailors, blocked at the port of Mariupol, can return home.
This was announced by Ambassador Marin Raykov, who represents Bulgaria in the International Maritime Organization. However, the main problem remains the mines around the ships.
“I insisted that this was far from enough to withdraw them, because we need closely coordinated actions by the two warring parties – Ukraine and Russia – to ensure the safety of our ships,” Raykov told bTV.
However, according to him, the International Maritime Organization is of the opinion that so far these guarantees for safe withdrawal have not been achieved.
