The first period for the game was in favor of Zvolen, but the goalkeeper Gudlevskis did not capitulate. They did not subdue him from the intermediate ring between Nuutinen and Vienna, in the fall close to Tiben and from the circle of Mc Pherson. The Slavs threatened more significantly in the twelfth minute, the free Gašpar shot well and then O’Donnell from the stop, but Vahenský also helped Rahm, when he threw the puck with the stick from the goal line. At the end of this part, they had a home power play and Mikúš broke the net, but a second after the horn announcing a break.

At the beginning of the second period, Peter Zuzin took advantage of Ranford’s mistake, he opened the score from the intermediate ring with a swing – 1: 0. It was already played by the ‘knights’ without the wounded captain Puliš. Gašpar could have put his team up another goal for HKM, but his shot hit the post after a nice combination in the middle of the park. However, Gudlevskis had much more work on the other side. He destroyed the chances of Vienna, Kelemen and Ivan. The people of Bratislava threatened only sporadically, Rahm guarded the end of Urbanek from behind the circle and O’Donnell’s flow was not accurate. In the end, the elected deservedly took the lead 2: 0. The Viennese fought in the middle zone, Nuutinen waited skillfully on the blue line and found McPherson in front of the goal in the ride, who did not hesitate in front of the Slovan goalkeeper. Mikúš and Bondra could have added a third goal to the break, but they could not find a recipe for the excellent Gudlevskis.

In the third period, the dominance of the home team continued, but Nuutinen missed two missed opportunities, further Zuzin and especially Slovan punished from the escape of McPherson. In the 48th minute, Harris from behind the goal found a free Ranford in the power play in front of her and he promptly and especially finished without a preparation – 2: 1. The elected people continued their activity, but failed in a power play and in the game of five against five they burned in front of the goalkeeper of the ‘whites’ Zuzin. The guests could balance from renumbering two to one, Rahm sweating after O’Donnell and Harris’s shots. In the end, at first the striker HKM Kelemen did not use a solo run, so the people of Bratislava could call off the goalkeeper and try to equalize during only the second power play in the match. In six against four, they succeeded, 32 seconds before the end, Ranford pushed out of the pre-goal area.

Even in overtime, the hockey players had the upper hand under Pustý hrad, but they continued not to take advantage of opportunities. Vienna and Zuzin got into them again, not even the young Jedlička conquered Gudlevskis. On the other hand, Rahm hit Petráš’s cannonball. Rapáč had a fantastic opportunity to put Ziga up another goal 71 minutes into the match, but he fired just over the crossbar. However, the Slavs came to life after her, but their exclusion by Gašpar slowed them down. In the power play, Zuzin did not prevail in the clear chance. In the game of five against five, the Bratislava team dominated and four seconds before the end of extra time, the strong O’Donnell took advantage of the third chance in a row in front of the goal.
