The hockey players of HK Nitra won Friday’s match of the 10th round of the Tipos extra league over HC Nové Zámky 3: 2 after extra time and stretched the winning series to six matches. Thanks to the triumph, they returned to the top of the table a point ahead of Slovan Bratislava.

The regional derby started better for Nové Zámky. In the 4th minute, they were sent to the lead by the former Nitra player – Šiška. In the middle of the third, the guests had the advantage of a power play with two players, paradoxically they collected in it when the puck was kicked by Baláž – 1: 1. However, Nové Zámky were rewarded for their shooting advantage and Farley won in the last minute.
In the 22nd minute, Hatala almost overcame O’Connor for the third time, but he reflexively stopped the puck in front of the goal line. Even in the middle part of the game, the guests were more active in shooting, but they did not beat O’Connor. On the other hand, in the 32nd minute he equalized to 2: 2 in the power play Buček.
At the beginning of the third act, Bajtek and Klempa hesitated on both sides in excellent positions. In the last ten minutes, the guests had a numerical advantage of two players for the second time in the match, but again without success. Jackson missed the biggest opportunity in the 53rd minute, who only hit the lying O’Connor. Tvrdoň could have scored for two minutes, but his shot hit the post after a nice combination in the middle of the park. The score did not change in the regular playing time.
Right at the beginning of the overtime, the “Corgoni” had an overpowering game at their disposal, which Tomáš Hrnka turned into his 100th goal in the extra league with a surprising shot from the goal line.

Dušan Milo, assistant coach of Nitra: “The match was not to our liking. We let the opponent take the lead and we had to catch up with the score. Paradoxically, weaknesses kept us in the game when we forced ourselves to play at 100%. In the game 5 to 5 it was worse and we lost significantly to the shots. It was poor in this game activity and we have to accentuate the players. We are happy for the points, at the same time I have to praise the boys mainly for the weaknesses and the goalkeeper caught us very well. ”
Gergely Majoross, coach of Nové Zámky: “It is difficult for me to evaluate such a match, it is a similar scenario from the previous ones. We played great and we certainly worked more opportunities than our opponent, but we scored a few goals. I try to instill in the players that we will do many things well and we have to take the good things from this match. ”
