The first third was marked by a number of discarded chances on both sides. With 10 minutes played, Melicherčík nearly put the visitors another one up as he broke through in the middle and fired from just outside the box, but his shot passed just over the bar. The home goalkeeper again held his team with two Spišiak tutors. They finally took the lead in the 18th minute in a power play thanks to Strauch.
Paukovček also took care of the equalizer in the 28th minute. A moment later, goalkeeper Spišiakov Melicherčík presented a dangerous intervention to one of Dukla’s players and received a 5 + DKZ penalty for attacking his head and neck. His deputy Surák did not keep his clean shield for long. In the 31st minute, Tybor easily overcame him and underlined Dukla’s strong passage with Kudla’s third goal, which burned everything that stood in his way. The visitors answered by Nieminen, who found Rapáč an ideal pass in front of the goal.
At the beginning of the third part, Tyczinski equalized, but after Tybora’s clever run, the home team got on the horse again. In the 55th minute, after a mess in the Trenčín goal, he was close to the Nieminen equalizer, but he could not push the puck into the goal. In the end, Dukla did not maintain a close lead, Salituro punished Chovan’s expulsion and sent the duel into overtime. In it, he decided on the victory of Dukla Mikysk.
