Extra weather forecast: stormy Saturday approaching Austria

The third free practice and qualifying in Austria are in jeopardy. Dark clouds will threaten the Red Bull Ring this afternoon. It then rains all day long pipe stealing, where it can even thunder.

Severe weather may therefore throw a spanner in the works for the Saturday afternoon program of the Styrian Grand Prix. Especially during the third free practice it can come out of the air with baking and there is also a chance of thunder, which can be accompanied by gusts of up to 70 kilometers per hour.

Also, the storm during qualifying, which starts at 3:00 PM, is anything but out of the question. However, it is expected that the weather will be less severe later in the afternoon. The chance of a thunderstorm decreases, although thunder and lightning cannot be ruled out during qualifying.

Anyway, if qualifying continues, this will be done with rain tires as the track will be soaking wet. The qualification may even be moved to Sunday morning. That would not be a problem, as the weather forecast for tomorrow is very favorable.

Update 10:50 am. The Formula 3 race, which was on the Red Bull Ring, has been halted. The question is whether we will see action for the rest of the day.
