Extra security measures have been taken at the Israeli embassy in The Hague since yesterday evening. There are black screens in front of the building and there is a police presence.
“There were already additional measures, but on Wednesday evening it was decided to implement these additional and visible measures,” said Mayor Jan van Zanen. “We never comment on the reasons for this.” The municipality will not make any further announcements.
The police and the National Coordinator for Counterterrorism and Security also do not want to reveal anything to the NOS about the background of the additional measures.

Since the war between Israel and Hamas, Jewish buildings such as synagogues and cemeteries have been kept under extra surveillance. Several locations have been threatened in recent months.
There are several police cars around the embassy building in The Hague:

Broadcasting West writes that there is “a lot of extra police” around the building on Johan de Wittlaan. According to the broadcaster, people can still enter and leave the building. There are also people present in the building, a NOS reporter sees.
According to Omroep West, work in and around the building will continue as usual.
The Israeli embassy has been located on Johan de Wittlaan since the summer of 2020. Before that, the Israelis had been based in a building at the Buitenhof for almost fifty years, but the lease there expired.
