There is extra surveillance at the Mediapark in Hilversum due to a “suspicious situation” on Monday morning. A police helicopter flew above the area for some time and patrolled the access roads.
The police presence was scaled down around 1 p.m., the police spokeswoman said. However, the Media Park is “additionally included” in surveillance, in the form of “mobile surveillance”. The investigation into the situation is still ongoing. The police do not want to say what exactly is going on. The police do say that reports circulating about an armed man in a building at the Mediapark are incorrect.
Staff at the Media Park are aware of the situation. The NPO, among others, advised employees to stay indoors for the time being, but that advice has now been lifted.
