A Schiphol spokesperson says that ‘everything is being done to ensure that today runs smoothly’. “It would be busy anyway because of the May holiday, but now the aftermath of the strike has been added. We therefore expect an extra busy day.”

Yesterday there was a wildcat strike at KLM baggage handlers. That airline says it is busy this morning getting rid of backlogs.

“They have their hands full with their suitcases at Schiphol, but all flights that are planned simply depart,” says a spokesperson.
According to KLM, 36 flights are canceled. No additional flights have been added, a spokesperson said. Some of the flights had already been canceled on Thursday, due to maintenance. The other cancellations are related to the strike.
