TWENTE – The GGD Twente is paying extra attention to hepatitis this week, in the context of World Hepatitis Day that was held on Thursday.
Hepatitis A is a contagious inflammation of the liver that can be contracted through contaminated water, unwashed and raw food and contact with faeces. This can cause serious complaints that last up to three months. The GGD Twente emphasizes that vaccination is important, especially when you go on holiday to countries and parts of the world where there is an increased risk.
This applies to Africa, Central and South America and Asia, among others. Some Eastern European countries are also a risk.
