“And what’s your plan?” Activists of the climate movement Extinction Rebellion ask the king.

Last night they sprayed the question, together with their logo, on the wall of the royal palace in Laeken. They also left graffiti on the parliament walls. With the new civil disobedience action, they want to sound the alarm among politicians and hope to have an impact on the ongoing government negotiations.
Brussels mayor Philippe Close expressed his reservations about the action of the climate activists on Twitter: “Sad to see Extinction Rebellion targeting the Royal Palace and our heritage once again.” He added dryly, “I’m not sure such wild action will help advance the climate issue.”
The tags have already been removed, which according to Extinction Rebellion may not have been a lot of work, the slogans and logos would have been written in chalk paint. No damage would have been done. The police has drawn up an official report that will be sent to the Brussels public prosecutor’s office.
The climate movement hopes to strengthen its demands with actions of civil disobedience. They state, among other things, that the government declares a ‘climate and ecological emergency’ and ‘recognizes the need for a rapid transformation of the economic system’. She also wants a legally binding national climate plan that will phase out fossil fuel imports and extraction by 2025.
