Extinction Rebellion demonstrates – without permission – dancing through the city

Campaigners from Extinction Rebellion demonstrate this afternoon dancing through the city without permission. Earlier today, the protesters were on Museumplein.

The climate activists today had permission from the municipality to protest on Museumplein until 2 p.m. They then had to leave because of another demonstration.

The group has announced via Facebook to ‘dance rebelliously through the city’ after the event on Museumplein. Tram 14 has temporarily detoured because of the dancing activists.

Blockade

Yesterday, 280 Extinction Rebellion activists were relocated after they blocked the intersection of Beethovenstraat with Gustav Mahlerlaan. An activist was arrested on suspicion of assaulting a police officer.

Extinction Rebellion has announced multiple demonstrations. After today the activists also want to demonstrate on the Museumplein on Sunday. Then they are allowed to be on the square until 7.30 pm.

At least another protest will be organized on Monday, the action group reports Facebook. The activists will then carry out a “mass civil disobedience action.” It is not clear exactly what that means.
