Prime Minister Najib Mikati presided over a meeting that included the ministers of finance, interior, and municipalities in the caretaker government, Youssef Khalil and Bassam Mawlawi, MPs Sajea Attia and Ahmed Khair, Director General of Finance George Maarawi, and Governor of Beirut Marwan Abboud.
After the meeting, the Minister of Interior said: “Our meeting today was aimed at informing the President of the steps we are taking to restore work in the Traffic Management Authority (Al-Nafah). We agreed with the General Directorate of Internal Security Forces and with Major General Othman that there will be 15 officers and 15 sergeants trained for work. On the computer so that we can operate the benefit in Dekwaneh and even in the regions, while simplifying transactions.
He added, “We have extended the effects of driving licenses until the end of the year in order to reduce the pressure on those who benefit, and so that citizens can continue driving in a legal manner. As for companies that deal with those who benefit, the commissioned head of the Traffic Authority, Governor of Beirut Marwan Abboud, will make the necessary contacts.” He confirmed securing all the necessities to operate the utility and meet the citizens’ affairs.
And Molloy concluded, “Things are on the right track, and the benefit will open again soon.”
