If you land at Frankfurt Airport after your holiday, you may have to wait longer at the baggage carousel this summer. The head of the airport operator Fraport announced this in an interview with Der Spiegel. The main reason is the lack of staff.
All those who land in Frankfurt and then stay are affected, according to Fraport boss Schulte. Because when a plane lands, the first thing Fraport employees do is take care of the suitcases of passengers who have a connecting flight: so that the luggage can be loaded onto the next plane in good time.

According to Schulte, the reason for the longer waiting times is the lack of staff at the airport. However, this is partly self-inflicted: During the corona pandemic, Fraport laid off 4,000 employees.
